Acrobatics: A unique blend of dancing and gymnastic disciplines that includes training in flexibility, strength, balancing, coordination, partnering work, and tumbling. In this class, students will work on a variety of skills on the mats, across the floor, and also in stations that each child rotates to. Combined with music and dance, acrobatics is a unique and exciting class that encourages fun, grace, self-expression, and athleticism!
Ballet: The foundation for training and developing a solid dance technique. It provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline, and self-confidence. Emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body (epaulement), and use of arms (port de bras). A must for all dancers!
Contemporary: This class will explore different ways of combining modern, contemporary, ballet, and jazz vocabularies. It will show each dancer how to keep the integrity of their technique while utilizing it in the most effective way possible. The class also explores ways to increase one’s artistic capacity through inspiration by movement, music, and philosophy.
Creative Combination Classes: Specially designed for the 6-7 year old students. This dance class focuses on muscle development, coordination, and musicality through fun and creative ways! This non-stop, action-packed class includes 2 different dance forms that will have your kid movin' to the beats!
Hip Hop: A high-energy class that infuses the latest street and pop dance styles. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements.
Intro to Dance: Specially designed for the 3-5 year old students. This class will give your little dancer a basic introduction to tap, ballet, and acrobatics while enhancing their motor skills and coordination with fun exercises in music qualities and rhythms, story-telling with movement, and free dance with various props. Introduce your little dancer to the beautiful art of dance!
Jazz: A rhythmic and upbeat style of dance. It focuses on proper alignment and technique, isolations of the body, leaps, turns, increased flexibility, strength, and an overall development of style.
Line Dancing: This class is for all levels. Dancers line up in rows facing in the same direction (though it can also be done facing each other) and perform synchronized movements done in unison to choreographed steps. Learn the basics of new and classic line dances in this fun class that feels more like a party than a workout.
Lyrical: This class is a hybrid-cross mix of ballet and jazz. It is a form of dance that depends on a piece of music to create movements that express a certain emotion or idea. With its dynamic mix of technique and artistry, lyrical not only requires a lot of stamina and strength like ballet, but also requires dancers to use their bodies to display emotion.
Musical Theatre: This is a jazz-based class filled with Broadway style dancing and music. It will incorporate the style of dance one would typically see on a Broadway stage, and emphasize learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions. This is solely a dance class and does not include voice instruction.
Tap: Designed to develop rhythm, style, and sound. This style uses a variety of dance steps which create percussive, rhythmic sounds by using one's feet. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. By putting steps together in a variety of ways the art of tap emerges.
